Dan's new digs

We love this apartment building!  It is so much prettier than any of our other apartments (no offense to glorious South Bend, IN, Speedway, IN, and Kettering, OH where those apartments have been located!)  Here are a few shots of Dan's surroundings.  Think he'll ever be tempted to ditch work?

The hallway shot demonstrates what every single hallway looks like in this monsterous, multi-story, multi-buildling complex.  No signs in the halls- nothing pointing the way to the pool or the mailboxes or the office.  You can imagine me, with my (lack of) direction, fumbling my way around.  Glad to say that the kids and I aren't perpetually lost anymore.  Luke can find his way to the elevator without help, which scares me!

The shot of the bedroom is to show off the second-hand furniture we bought.  The previous neurosurgery fellow and his wife were Italian.  They bought all of their furniture from Ikea and from Italian stores.  This is a shot of our Ikea bedroom and our red Italian leather chair.  They look NOTHING like any of our furniture or bedding at home, which makes them really fun.  Maybe I need to re-think my obsession with beige...

Our shutterbug takes on the Houston Zoo

Emma loves to take photos.  We went to the zoo again (for an hour or so,  just before closing time.  We love memberships!) and she was photographer for the day.   These shots are among her favorites.

Houston fun!

Dan's spent his time before starting work helping us do all kinds of cool stuff in and around Houston!  We visited the Aquarium (the kids loved the piranhas), the Gulf of Mexico (Galveston), and the Houston Zoo.  We've had a heat index of about 108 several days that we've been here, so we've all been adjusting to the Southern mentality of staying in during the day and going outdoors in the evening.

Graduation!

Dan graduated from his residency program (IU Neurosurgery Dept.) a few weeks ago!  I will post photos soon.  We immediately packed up and headed to Houston, where Dan will be working at Texas Children's Hospital from July 1 to June 30, 2010.  No worries - he'll be flying home a couple of times per month.  In the meantime, we are all enjoying Houston and getting Dan settled.  Somehow I think he'll appreciate the quiet when we vacate his little apartment in a few weeks!  Here are a few shots of us enjoying his apartment complex's pool...

Baseball

AAh, the great American pastime.  We spent countless hours at Lions Park practicing and watching games as Daniel had his first year of kid-pitch (translation:  ouch!) and Noah had his first year of Little League.   Emma and Luke liked the concession stand the most.

How we spent our spring....
